Oganes Papazyan, a 62-year-old Armenian man, was fatally stabbed Friday, Nov. 15, in the 700 block of East Cesar E. Chavez Avenue in downtown, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 6 p.m., Papazyan, a taxi cab driver, picked up a man at Union Station, police said.
The man directed Papazyan to the parking lot of a Burger King, where he was stabbed.
The attacker attempted to leave in the cab, but ended up running away.
Papazyan was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:17 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Two days later, officers in the area saw a man who matched the suspect's description in the 500 block of North Main Street, police said.
Daniel Torres, a 32-year-old Latino, was interviewed and arrested on suspicion of murder.

About 7:38 a.m., Gracie was shot in her high school’s quad. Gracie was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 9:23 a.m., authorities said. The girl had just turned 15 on Oct. 10.

Omar Enrique Garcia, a 37-year-old Latino male, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, after being shot by law enforcement near the 4200 block of Dozier Street in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Angel Javier Rodarte, a 20-year-old Latino, was pronounced dead on Tuesday, Nov. 12, after he was shot near Walnut Avenue and Doublegrove Street in Valinda, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Rodarte had just bicycled back from a convenience store near his home around 9 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, and was standing in his front yard when a white or light-gray compact SUV pulled up and someone began shooting from the driver's side window, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Brandon Dean.
The car sped away, east on Doublegrove Street, and Rodarte collapsed, Dean said. A friend drove him to a nearby hospital and he was transferred to another hospital with a trauma center.
Rodarte was pronounced dead early the next morning at 12:25 a.m., according to coroner's records. The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

A man who killed another man in front of a 6-year-old boy in Long Beach more than two years ago had a history of domestic violence combined with a pattern of threatening behavior, court records show.
The defendant, Jason Monroe Daniels, 35, was sentenced to 122 years to life in prison on Aug. 27 for fatally shooting William Luther Hayes while Hayes was visiting his estranged wife’s children in Long Beach on April 19, 2017.
Daniels was convicted in July of second-degree murder, child abuse and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to prosecutors.
Various court records portrayed Daniels as a man who was short-tempered, unpredictable and at times threatening.
Daniels was dating Hayes’ ex-partner at the time of the shooting, though the couple had a contentious relationship, according to court records.

Mareon Da’Pre Jefferson, a 19-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, Nov. 11, in the 200 block of East 99th Street in Broadway-Manchester, according to Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s records.
About 10:25 p.m., Jefferson was standing in the street with a group of people when a car passed by and a person inside fired at the group, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.
Jefferson was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:43 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
It’s unknown if the shooter was sitting in the passenger or driver’s side of the car, described only as a light-colored sedan, police said.

James Lee Chambers, a 55-year-old Black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Nov. 9, in the 1700 block of West 24th Street in Adams-Normandie, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
About midnight, Chambers was standing in the area when a person shot him, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.
The person shot Chambers from behind a tree, then was seen running south on South Congress Avenue from West 24th Street.
Chambers died at the scene.
Patrice Chambers, James’ sister, said that her brother was born and raised in the area. James Chambers was funny, loved to dance and encouraged the youth at the neighborhood park to do well in school, she said.

Two Los Angeles women were recently sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing a liquor store clerk in North Hollywood during an attempted robbery three years ago.
Rosa Manuela Barrientos, 26, and Maria Michelle Inzunza, 28, were sentenced Aug. 23 for killing Mohammad Kalam, a 61-year-old man from Bangladesh.
A jury in August 2018 found both Barrientos and Inzunza guilty of one count of murder with the special circumstance allegation that the killing was committed during a robbery and one count of attempted second-degree robbery, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.
