Hye Soon Oh, a 67-year-old Asian woman, was fatally shot Tuesday, Aug. 8, in the 2900 block of Montrose Avenue in Glendale, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Glendale police responded about 8:30 p.m. after a report of gunfire in the area, according to Sgt. Robert William, a department spokesman. Officers found Oh on the ground near a vehicle in an open carport area of an apartment complex.
She had a single gunshot wound, according to William. Oh was transported to the hospital where she died at 9:40 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Investigators believe it was not a random shooting and that Oh was possibly targeted for a robbery as she was returning home from her business, William said.

Roxann Acosta, a 28-year-old Latina, was fatally shot Sunday, Aug. 6, in the 1200 block of West Victoria Avenue in Montebello, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Montebello police responded about 10 p.m. to a call about shots fired in the area, according to Sgt. Marc Marty. Officers found Acosta at a residence with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:22 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Detectives think Acosta was killed by her husband, Christopher Michael Diaz, 26, according to Marty. Acosta and Diaz were estranged but had spent the day together before ending up at Diaz’s mother’s house in Montebello, Marty said.
The two had an argument, and witnesses heard gunshots, Marty said. Diaz’s mother was in the house but in another room; other people also were in the home, Marty said.
Brenda Abrica, a 19-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Saturday, Aug. 5, in the 4000 block of West 105th Street in Inglewood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Abrica was standing next to a vehicle in the residential area, talking to two Latino friends who were members of a local gang, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza said.
A dark-colored SUV drove up at 1:38 a.m., Mendoza said, and someone inside the car started shooting at the three friends.
Abrica was struck in the chest and collapsed on the sidewalk. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:48 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Alice Pritchard, a 93-year-old white woman, was fatally stabbed on Monday, July 24, in the 3100 block of East Artesia Boulevard in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Long Beach police responded to a call about 3:15 p.m. about a stabbing at an assisted living facility, according to a news release. They discovered a woman with a stab wound to her chest. Pritchard was pronounced dead at 3:47 p.m., according to coroner's records.
Officers arrested Linda Womack, Pritchard’s roommate, at the scene. The motive for the stabbing is unknown.
Womack, 65, was booked on suspicion of murder and is scheduled to go to court Aug. 16 for an arraignment hearing.

Lyndi Lee Fisher, a 36-year-old white woman, died Friday, July 14, after being strangled in the 43200 block of Doverwood Court in Lancaster, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Fisher, an appliance technician, had gone to a home on Doverwood Court to repair a refrigerator around 6 p.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza said. It was her last service call of the day.
At 11:11 p.m., the house’s sole resident, William Hughes, called the Sheriff’s Department to report that Fisher was unconscious in his garage, Mendoza said.
Hughes told investigators he had left the house while Fisher was working, and when he returned, she was lying unresponsive in his garage.

Virginia Villa, a 73-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Wednesday, July 12, in the 128900 block of Wingo Street in Pacoima, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m., police were called to a home where they found Villa in a wheelchair with a gunshot wound to her head, said Los Angeles Police Officer Tony Im.
About five feet away, her husband was lying on the couch holding a handgun and suffering from a gunshot wound to his head.
Villa was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:37 a.m.

Azalea Villarreal, a 28-year-old Latina, died Thursday, July 6, after being beaten in the 6200 block of Lanto Street in Bell Gardens, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Bell Gardens police officers were called to Villarreal’s home at 10 a.m. July 5 for a “medical rescue,” Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Guillermo Morales said. Villarreal lived in the home with her boyfriend and their 4-year-old daughter, Morales said.
When officers arrived, they found Villarreal lying in the front yard “with visible injuries to the upper torso,” according to a sheriff’s news release.
Villarreal was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 2 p.m. the following day, according to coroner’s records. The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma to the head.

Nereida “Neri” Villanueva, a 33-year-old Latina, was fatally shot on Saturday, July 1, in the 13900 block of Coteau Drive in South Whittier, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Villanueva was at her apartment with her boyfriend about 11 a.m. when her ex-husband, Efrem Ruben Lozoya, arrived to drop off one of their two children, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Rodney Moore.
After he came inside, Lozoya pulled out a gun and fired at Villanueva and her boyfriend, striking them both, Moore said.
He then fled, leaving the children behind in the apartment, Moore said. It’s not clear if the7-year-old girl and 10-year-old boy witnessed the shooting.
