Emily Anna Fox, a 22-year-old white woman, was shot and killed Sunday, Jan. 17 in the 7600 block of Oso Avenue in Winnetka, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Officers responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon about 4:30 p.m. at a home, said Officer Aareon Jefferson, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.
Inside, officers discovered Fox and her boyfriend, 24-year-old Jerrad Cardae Scott, with gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators learned that Fox called 911 and said her ex-boyfriend was at the home with a gun.
On Jan. 19, Brian Anthony Gonzales, also known as Brian Hammond, a 24-year-old black man, was arrested aboard a bus in Southern California, police said.

Gladis Maribel Sicajan-Albir, a 39-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Friday, Jan. 8 in the 3300 block of James M. Wood Boulevard in Koreatown, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 6:30 a.m., officers were called to a report of a shooting and found Sicajan-Albir unresponsive in the front seat of her four-door sedan, said Lt. John Radtke with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Sicajan-Albir was pronounced dead at 7:22 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
A witness told police that the gunman fled north on South Harvard Boulevard, Radtke said. About 20 minutes later, officers received another call of a shooting at South Harvard and Wilshire boulevards.
When officers arrived, they found Sicajan-Albir’s estranged husband with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Dawn Hensley, a 41-year-old white woman, was killed Friday, Dec. 25, when she was set on fire in the 1500 block of Cordova Street in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Pomona police officers were called to the scene after neighbors reported seeing a person later identified as Hensley run out of her home engulfed in flames, according to a department news release.
Hensley collapsed on the street and neighbors came to help her until Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived, according to the release. She was taken to a nearby hospital with severe burns, and she was pronounced dead at 1:44 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Long Beach police officers were called to the apartment building about 8:30 a.m. regarding a possible domestic violence incident in progress, and found Owens lying in an alley outside the building, according to a department news release.
Owens was pronounced dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds to her head, according to coroner records.

Yesenia Lucila Baca, a 21-year-old Latina, was fatally shot Sunday, Dec. 20, in the 6200 block of Reseda Boulevard in Tarzana, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 4 p.m., Dominick Teret, a 22-year-old Latino, made a 911 call to say that Baca had been accidentally shot, according to LAPD Det. James Fillmore. She was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:09 p.m.
Teret later changed his story, Fillmore said, saying that Baca had instead committed suicide. Coroner’s investigators ruled the death a homicide.
On Dec. 23, Teret, of Tarzana, pleaded not guilty to one count of murder in Baca’s death. He also faces allegations of using a shotgun in the killing.

Claudia Janet Sanchez, a 38-year-old Latina, was fatally stabbed Friday, Dec. 4, in the 300 block of West 47th Place in South Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 1:30 p.m., Sanchez got into an argument with a man in a dark-colored pickup truck, said LAPD Det. Richard Arciniega. The man stabbed Sanchez, who then fell out of the truck and onto the ground, Arciniega said.
The man drove away in the vehicle, which was easily identifiable because it had a for-sale sign, Arciniega said.
A few days later, a woman called the LAPD because she said her husband had been talking about killing someone and had been acting strangely.

Dawn Frances McEveety, a 19-year-old Latina, was found dead from shotgun wounds on Sunday, Nov. 29, in the 8600 block of Bradwell Avenue in the West Whittier-Los Nietos area, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Investigators were called to the scene when residents in the quiet neighborhood reported an abandoned vehicle. When deputies came to investigate about 1:10 p.m., they could smell the odor of a decomposing body inside, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Dave Coleman.
Deputies found a large ice chest in the rear cargo area of the car, Coleman said, and when they opened it up, they found McEveety's 5-foot-1 body inside.

Kassandra Ochoa, a 21-year-old Latina, died Saturday, Nov. 21, after she was struck in the head in the 470 block of South Sydney Drive in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Ochoa was seen arguing with her boyfriend, Antonio Medina, about 1 a.m. as they walked into a vacant apartment, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Victor Lewandowski.
Neighbors contacted the owner of the apartment building, who lived nearby. When the apartment owner walked in, she saw Ochoa lying on the floor bleeding from the head and Medina standing nearby, Lewandowski said.
The landlord called 911; Medina allegedly fled.
Ochoa had blunt force trauma to the back of her head, Lewandowski said. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:08 a.m., according to coroner's records. The autopsy is pending.

Ciara Grigsby, a 20-year-old black woman, was shot and killed Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the 600 block of East 97th Street in Green Meadows, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 7:30 p.m., Grigsby and a 57-year-old black man were walking east on East 97th Street when they came across two other people, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido.
One of the men asked Grigsby and the man she was with what gang they were affiliated with, Garrido said.
One of the men then opened fire, hitting Grigsby. The man who was with Grigsby suffered a graze wound to his foot and was treated at the scene.
Grigsby was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:45 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
