Leticia Delatorre Castillo, a 44-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Wednesday, April 20, in the 13000 block of Los Angeles Street in Baldwin Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s office records.
Castillo was at work at La Blanquita Market, standing near the checkout counter, when Raul Garcia Martinez, her estranged husband, walked into the store about 8:13 a.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza.
Martinez, a 47-year-old Latino, walked up to his wife of 20 years, shot her in the head, then shot himself in the head as her co-workers stood nearby, Mendoza said.
The husband didn't say anything before he fired, Mendoza said. A gun was found at the scene.

Zhang and her husband, Aiping Diao, a 60-year-old Chinese national, had come from their home in Sichuan, China, to visit their daughter and her husband and children at their Oahu Street condominium, according to authorities.

Karina Duch, a 40-year-old Cambodian woman, was fatally stabbed Wednesday, April 13, in the 1200 block of Stanley Avenue in Long Beach, according to authorities and Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Long Beach police officers were called about 12:50 p.m. to a home regarding “unknown trouble,” according to a news release from the department. When officers arrived, they found a man with a knife who was suffering from a self-inflicted stab wound, police said.
The man refused officer’s commands to drop the knife, and police used “less lethal options” to take him into custody.

Lauren Elaine Olguin, a 32-year-old white woman, was fatally shot Tuesday, April 12, in the 500 block of North Virgil Avenue in East Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 6 a.m., officers responded to a call of a gunshot victim, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.
Olguin was playing cards at a gathering when, according to a posting by the FBI, Philip Policarpio, a 39-year-old Filipino, approached her, began to beat her and shot her during an argument.
Olguin, who was pregnant at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers found a 44-year-old black man with a knife in his waistband who was unresponsive to questions. Officers then conducted a welfare check in a nearby apartment and found Tyler’s body in the living room.

About 9 a.m., officers responded to a battery in progress at a home, said Los Angeles police Det. Dave Garrido. Palma-Perez was found in her bedroom with blunt-force trauma, Garrido said.

Palma-Perez’s husband, Hugo Merino Cruz, a 36-year-old Latino, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Alicia Renae Williams, a 32-year-old black woman, died Monday, April 4, after she was stabbed in the 5200 block of Pendleton Avenue in South Gate, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
South Gate Police officers were called to the residence about 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, regarding a spousal assault. When officers arrived, they discovered Williams and her 6-month-old daughter suffering from multiple stab wounds, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Eddie Hernandez.

Kourtney Yochum, a 32-year-old transgender woman, was shot and killed Wednesday, March 23, in the 500 block of South San Pedro Street in downtown, according to authorities and Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 2 p.m., the alleged gunman, possibly embroiled in a domestic dispute with Yochum, approached and opened fire, said Los Angeles police Officer Tony Im. Yochum was pronounced dead at the scene.

About 4:30 a.m., James and a woman in her 30s were driving in a light-colored Chevrolet Tahoe when they became aware that they were being followed by another sedan, LAPD Det. Dave Garrido said.
James’ car pulled into a Chevron gas station and was followed by the sedan. A man in the sedan got out and had a verbal exchange with James.
