James Leroy Breedlove, a 40-year-old black man, was killed Saturday, Sept. 14, in the 5000 block of Rodeo Road in Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Breedlove was standing in the parking lot of the Rancho Cienega Sports Complex when a person driving a light-colored Ford Expedition ran him over, LAPD Det. Supervisor Chris Barling said.
The person then got out of his car and began to strike Breedlove with a pipe, Barling said.
Breedlove was pronounced dead at a hospital at 4:43 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
He died of multiple traumatic injuries, an autopsy showed.
