Michael Larry Stickles, a 42-year-old white man, died Friday, Aug. 12, after he was shot near the corner of Cedar Street and Lakewood Boulevard in Bellflower, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Stickles was found lying on the sidewalk on Cedar Street, just north of Lakewood Boulevard, the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 10, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Det. Phillip Martinez.
Deputies went to the residential area after receiving a call about gunfire, Martinez said.
Stickles was taken to a nearby hospital where he was put on life support, Martinez said. He was pronounced dead two days later at 10:57 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the head.

Na Li, a 37-year-old Asian woman, was stabbed to death Monday, July 4, in the 16400 block of Lakewood Boulevard in Bellflower, according to Los Angeles County coroner records.
Li was stabbed in the chest about 12:23 p.m. by a man with bushy hair in the hallway outside her room at the Bellflower Travel Inn, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide Det. Phil Martinez.
The stabbing was recorded by surveillance cameras, but the quality was so poor that investigators can’t make out many details about the attacker, said Martinez.
The assailant fled down a stairwell into the parking lot. The video showed Li walking briefly back into her room, and then she followed her attacker outside, collapsing on the stairs, Martinez said.

Andrew Gregory Bender, a 19-year-old black man, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, after he was shot in the 8500 block of Cedar Street in Bellflower, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
On Jan. 27 about 9 a.m., Bender and a friend were walking from a liquor store to a gathering at a nearby house. As the two men walked back, a gunman ran up behind them and opened fire, said Det. Eduardo Aguirre with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Bender was hit while his friend ran for cover, Aguirre said. The friend was not injured.
After firing several rounds, the gunman ran to a vehicle and fled the area, Aguirre said.
Bender was taken to a local hospital. On Feb. 9, he was pronounced dead at 8:16 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
