Grecia Veronica Ayala, a 30-year-old Latina, was killed Friday June 23, in the 12800 block of South Stoneacre Avenue in Compton, according to authorities.
The cause of death has not yet been determined, but investigators believe she was strangled, based on the ligature marks found around her neck, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Rodney Moore.
Ayala, the mother of four children ages 5 to 15, was found wrapped in a comforter in the small house where she lived with her husband, Luis Ernesto Villanueva, Moore said.
Her parents live in a house on the front of the property, and Villanueva walked there about 2 a.m. that morning, to tell them "he wanted to show them something," according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.

Claudia Moya-Sanchez, a 37-year-old Latina, died Monday, May 29, after she was stabbed in the 1600 block of East Palmer Street in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Moya-Sanchez was at home around 9 a.m. when she got into an argument with her ex-boyfriend, Andres Garcia, 38, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Rodney Moore said.
During the argument, Garcia, also known as Jose Gonzalez, stabbed Moya-Sanchez multiple times, Moore said.
Moya-Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:30 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
Garcia drove away from the scene, Moore said, but was arrested in Ventura County later that day by California Highway Patrol officers and transported back to Los Angeles.

Luis Garcia, a 25-year-old Latino, died Thursday, May 25, after he was shot by a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy in the 900 block of North Santa Fe Avenue in Compton, according to sheriff’s investigators.
Garcia allegedly fired on two deputies during a traffic stop about 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, said Lt. Joe Mendoza. One of the deputies was struck by gunfire as he opened the back door of the car in which Garcia was a passenger.
The fallen deputy’s partner returned fire, striking Garcia, Mendoza said.
The injured deputy and Garcia were taken to a hospital.
Garcia was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after midnight on May 25, Mendoza said. Coroner’s records are unavailable because investigators put a security hold on the autopsy results until their investigation is completed, Mendoza said.

Alexiz Orona, an 18-year-old Latina, died on Friday, April 14, after she was shot near the corner of South Tamarind Avenue and East Raymond Street in Compton, according to Los Angeles County authorities.
There are few details available about the shooting. Orona lived in Buena Park in Orange County, but the evening she was shot, she was near her boyfriend's home on East Raymond Street, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Bill Cotter.
Investigators first learned about the shooting when Orona was dropped off at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood about 6 p.m., shortly after she was shot, Cotter said.
“They basically pulled up to the curb, waited for the attendants to come get her and then drove away,” Cotter said. The car was described as a white compact.

Rodney Sherin Johnson, a 48-year-old black man, was shot and killed on Thursday, March 30, in the 400 block of North Wilmington Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Johnson had an address in Gardena, but he had been living in his van in the residential area of Compton where he died, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Troy Ewing said.
Johnson had been talking with a friend at West Brazil Street and North Wilmington Avenue near where he parked his van. At 7:49 p.m., as he was returning from his visit, a man ran up and shot him several times, Ewing said.
Deputies found Johnson lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds, Ewing said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Sergio Ramirez, a 39-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Feb. 18, in the 13500 block of Alameda Street in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Ramirez was ordering at the window of a taco truck about 9:15 p.m. when a brown sedan parked at the curb, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Jauch.
A Latino man got out of the car, walked to the sidewalk and opened fire, Jauch said. The shots struck Ramirez and two taco truck employees working at a table outside.
Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:29 p.m. He had been shot multiple times, according to coroner’s records.

Jose Rafael Raya, a 20-year-old Latino, died Saturday, Dec. 17, after he was shot at the intersection of 130th Street and Wilmington Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Raya was in his neighborhood, driving west on 130th Street with his girlfriend in the front passenger seat, when he stopped at Wilmington Street about 6:45 p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Jauch.
It appeared that Raya was preparing to turn northbound on Wilmington when someone in a white sedan on Raya's driver’s side began shooting, Jauch said.

Julio Cesar Ramirez Valencia, a 41-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, Nov. 25, on McKinley Avenue north of 135th Street in Compton, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department records.
Ramirez Valencia was driving north in the 13400 block of Stanford Avenue about 4:35 p.m. when he came upon two black men walking in the street, said Lt. Joe Mendoza.
The three men “had a brief exchange of words,” Mendoza said, and as Ramirez Valencia continued driving, one of the pedestrians pulled out a gun and began shooting at the car.
The men on foot then ran the opposite direction, south on Stanford Avenue, a block east on 135th Street and then north on McKinley Street, according to witnesses.
