Jimmy Bradford, a 47-year-old black man, was fatally stabbed Monday, June 12, in the 5800 block of Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 8 a.m., Bradford was near a 101 Freeway onramp in Hollywood, where he may have been panhandling, when he got into an argument with two other people, Los Angeles Police Lt. John Radtke said.
The argument escalated, and Bradford was stabbed by a man, police said.
The man’s girlfriend then stole Bradford’s backpack, Radtke said. Bradford was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:39 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
On June 15, Alex Conn Vasquez, a 23-year-old Latino, was charged with one count of murder with the allegation that the crime was committed during a robbery, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Bryan De La Torrre, a 21-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Thursday, May 18, in the 1500 block of Wilcox Avenue in Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 11 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call of a shooting in the area, police said. When officers arrived, they found De La Torre, who had been shot, in an alley next to an apartment building, according to a news release from the LAPD.
Investigators believe two people kicked in De La Torre’s apartment door, then shot him. De La Torre then jumped out the apartment window, police said. De La Torre was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead on May 19 at 12:21 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Solomon Picart, a 37-year-old black man, was fatally shot by Los Angeles police officers Tuesday, Jan. 31, in the 6400 block of Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 2 p.m., a bicyclist was stabbed along the north side of Sunset Boulevard near Ivar Avenue, said LAPD Sgt. Frank Preciado, a spokesman for the department.
The assailant ran along Sunset Boulevard and tried to get into a coffee shop, but employees held the door shut, Preciado said.
The man, later identified as Picart, then walked into the Jack in the Box on Sunset.
He stabbed a second person, Preciado said. As the second victim ran away, police officers rushed inside. Picart then knifed a third person.

Devon Lamar Jelkes, a 28-year-old black man, was fatally beaten Sunday, Oct. 30, in the 1600 block of North Cahuenga Boulevard in Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 2:30 a.m., police responded to calls of a fight as nightclubs were closing, said Officer Aareon Jefferson, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.
Witnesses said that after a nightclub closed for the evening and a crowd milled about on the sidewalk, there was a dispute, according to a news release issued by the LAPD.

Ruben Reyes Roque, a 33-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Monday, Oct. 10, near North Western Avenue and Romaine Street in Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Roque was dropped off at a hospital by a private vehicle with gunshot wounds shortly after 12:30 a.m. in the Northeast Division of the Los Angeles police department, said LAPD Lt. John Radtke.
Roque was pronounced dead at 12:55 a.m. at the hospital, according to coroner’s records.
Police later determined that Roque was originally shot near North Western Avenue and Romaine Street in Hollywood about 12:35 a.m., Radtke said.
Detectives believe Roque was in a vehicle with others when he was shot. At this point, police do not have a description of the shooter.

Michael John Rush, a 62-year-old white man, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, after he was fatally assaulted near Hollywood Boulevard and North La Brea Avenue in Hollywood, according to Los Angelese County coroner’s records.
About 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 5, officers were flagged down by people who saw Rush hitting cars with a metal flashlight, said LAPD Det. Luis Carranza.
Rush struck a black BMV SUV with a flashlight, then two black men got out of the vehicle and punched him, police said.
Rush fell and hit his head on the ground. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Carranza said.
Rush was pronounced dead four days later, on Aug. 9 at 4:24 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The coroner’s office ruled the death a homicide, records show.

Randall Brett Merhar, a 46-year-old white man, died Thursday, July 28, after sustaining blunt force trauma in the 1400 block of North Orange Drive in Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
About 10:40 a.m. July 27, Merhar got into a dispute with a man near the parking lot of a store, according to LAPD Lt. John Radtke. Both men were transients, Radtke said.
During the dispute, the man struck Merhar in the head with a metal pipe, Radtke said. After Merhar fell down, the assailant left the scene.
Shortly thereafter, police arrived, and Merhar was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead the next day at 6:51 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Darren Eugene Little, a 43-year-old black man, died Thursday, Feb. 18, after he was shot in the 1700 block of North Las Palmas Avenue in Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 11:15 p.m. on Feb. 17, two men got into a fight over money outside the Rusty Mullet, a bar off Las Palmas Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard, said LAPD Lt. John Radtke. Radtke would not say how much money the men were fighting over.
At one point, one of the men pulled a knife and stabbed Little. Little was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“They were definitely acquaintances,” Radtke said.

Carrie Jean Melvin, a 30-year-old white woman, was shot and killed Sunday, July 5, near North McCadden Place and Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly after 10 p.m., Melvin and her boyfriend were walking north on McCadden Place and were on their way to grab food when a black man walked up to the two and opened fire on the woman, police said.
The gunman then jumped into a black sedan and drove off, away from the popular tourist area.
Melvin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are still trying to determine why Melvin, 30, but not other people on the street at the time, was shot. Her boyfriend was unharmed.

About 8:30 a.m., police responded to a parking lot and found Fraticelli, who had been stabbed after a dispute.
Police said that Fraticelli was standing next to a vehicle when he was stabbed. Fraticelli was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:46 a.m., said Ed Winter, assistant chief of investigations for the coroner’s office.
