Alonzo Darryn Lewis Jr., a 48-year-old black man, was fatally wounded Saturday, June 15, in the 2500 block of 4th Avenue in Jefferson Park, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.
At 11:30 a.m., Lewis was visiting his grandmother’s home, LAPD Det. Sal LaBarbera said. It is unclear what happened next, but neighbors heard a heated argument and moments later, a single gunshot, LaBarbera said. A black male was seen leaving the home, and is believed to be the gunman.
Detectives are looking for the man.
Lewis was taken to a hospital, where he died at 11:52 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
Investigators believe that Lewis was involved in a family dispute with his stepbrother.
