John Arthur Ruh, a 61-year-old white man, was shot and killed Monday, Feb. 19, at 44419 Division St. in Lancaster, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Ruh was working as a cashier at the VP Fuels and Drive Thru Dairy convenience store that morning, according to coroner’s records.
Two men walked into the store around 8:30 a.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza. One of the men pulled a handgun and demanded money from Ruh before opening fire.
The two men, who were described only as black and wearing hoodies, then ran out of the store.
Ruh was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:43 a.m., according to coroner’s records. He had been shot multiple times.
The shooting happened quickly, and the robbers didn’t take any money, Mendoza said.
