Ray Chinchilla, a 20-year-old Latino, was shot and killed on Saturday, March 18, in the 400 block of East Camino Real in Duarte, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Chinchilla was walking north on Flagstone Avenue near the intersection with East Camino Real with his former girlfriend and her new boyfriend about 9 p.m. when two men approached, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Troy Ewing.
The two men began shooting at Chinchilla, said Ewing. His companions were not injured. They ran and called 911, Ewing said.
Chinchilla was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:20 p.m., according to coroner’s records, which listed the cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds.
The gunmen, described only as black men, got into a gray Honda and drove away, Ewing said.
