Kehende Lang, a 25-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, June 17, in the 1700 block of South Longwood Avenue in Mid-City, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
The incident began about 3:30 a.m., when Los Angeles Police officers received numerous calls about shots being fired in the area. When they arrived they discovered Lang with multiple gunshot wounds.
Lang was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:37 a.m., according to the coroner’s records.
LAPD Homicide Det. Steven Katz said investigators have few leads. There’s no evidence Lang was robbed, and investigators don’t know why he was walking at that time. He has family in another part of Los Angeles, Katz said, but he frequently stayed in the area.
