James Gregory Medrano, a 26-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Nov. 19, in the 12200 block of Sproul Street in Norwalk, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Witnesses told investigators that Medrano tried to intervene and got into an argument with the robber, Cotter said. The robber then pulled out a handgun and shot Medrano multiple times.
The skate park was crowded, Cotter said, but when the shooting began, most people ran away, including the victim of the robbery.
Medrano fell to the ground, where he was pronounced dead at 8:18 p.m., according to coroner's records.
