Nicholas Anthony Pletcher, a 23-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Sunday, Aug. 21, in the 1500 block of San Bernardino Avenue in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 6:30 p.m., officers from the Pomona Police Department received a call of shots fired in the area, according to a news release from the department.
While officers were on their way to the area, they received another call that a shooting victim was in the 1700 block of Appleton Way, less than a block away.
Pletcher, who was found in an alley, was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:43 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Police believe that two Latinos in their 20s were involved in the shooting and fled westbound on San Bernardino Avenue.

Deborah Gutierrez, a 34-year-old Latina, died Saturday, July 23, after she was shot at the corner of North San Antonio Avenue and East 1st Street in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Gutierrez had spent the evening with her boyfriend, the father of her two children, and were driving home when they stopped for a red light on San Antonio Avenue at 1st Street about 3:30 a.m., said Anthony Catanese, a Pomona homicide detective.

Justin Lee Fernandez, a 29-year-old Latino, died Sunday, July 10, in the 900 block of San Bernardino Avenue in Pomona, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
About 5:30 p.m., Pomona police received a call about a stabbing victim in an alley, according to Lt. Hector Rodriguez. When officers arrived, they found two men, including Fernandez, who had been stabbed. Both were taken to a hospital, Rodriguez said.
Fernandez was pronounced dead at 5:39 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The other person who was stabbed, an 18-year-old, survived, Rodriguez said.
Detectives are investigating the case and are awaiting analysis of evidence from the scene, Rodriguez said.

Victor Quintanilla, a 37-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, Feb. 3, in the 1700 block of South Garey Avenue in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
About 10 p.m. Pomona police were called to the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant after a passerby discovered Quintanilla slumped in the driver's seat of his car, Lt. Chuck Becker said.
Quintanilla, a Pomona resident, had parked and gone inside the restaurant to purchase some food, then came back out and got into his car, where he was shot multiple times in the upper torso through the driver's side window, Becker said.

Ramon Paredes Jr., a 22-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, Jan. 1, at the intersection of South Rebecca Street and West Fourth Street in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Paredes appeared to be riding a bicycle when he was struck by gunfire sometime after midnight, said Pomona Police Sgt. Marcus Perez.
A passerby discovered Paredes’ body about 1 a.m. and called the police, Perez said. Paredes was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:10 a.m. with multiple gunshot wounds, according to coroner records.

Dawn Hensley, a 41-year-old white woman, was killed Friday, Dec. 25, when she was set on fire in the 1500 block of Cordova Street in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Pomona police officers were called to the scene after neighbors reported seeing a person later identified as Hensley run out of her home engulfed in flames, according to a department news release.
Hensley collapsed on the street and neighbors came to help her until Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived, according to the release. She was taken to a nearby hospital with severe burns, and she was pronounced dead at 1:44 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
