Richard Daniel Aukschun, a 44-year-old Armenian man, was shot and killed Friday, June 2, in the 15700 block of Saticoy Street in Van Nuys, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 3 p.m., Aukschun confronted a 26-year-old man who was spray-painting graffiti on the side of an automotive repair shop, Los Angeles Police Det. Gabe Bucknell said. The two argued, and the 26-year-old walked away.
The man came back about five minutes later with a gun and chased Aukschun around the body shop, Bucknell said. The gunman cornered Aukschun in a storage closet and shot him point-blank, Bucknell said.
Officers found Aukschun on the ground inside the shop, bleeding from the upper torso, police said. He was pronounced dead at 3:31 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Andrew Patsukevich, a 37-year-old Armenian man, was killed Sunday, Nov. 6, in the 7400 block of Sepulveda Boulevard in Van Nuys, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 10 p.m., Los Angeles police officers responded to a call of a carjacking in the area and found Patsukevich on the ground and his wife standing next to him, police said.
Police determined that Patsukevich and his wife were in a green Lexus sedan driving north on Sepulveda Boulevard when a man on a bike rode toward the Lexus, police said.
Patsukevich honked at the cyclist, who slammed the windshield of the Lexus with his fist. Patsukevich got out of the car and the man on the bike punched him in the face, jumped in the car and hit the accelerator, police said.

Ian James Samuel Jr., a 19-year-old black man, was fatally shot Sunday, Oct. 23, in the 6400 block of Woodley Avenue in Van Nuys, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 11:30 p.m., Samuel was standing on a sidewalk when a person walked up to him and shot him, said Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Peteque. Samuel ran a short distance before collapsing on the front porch of a home.
Samuel was pronounced dead at 12:30 a.m. at the scene, according to coroner’s records.
Peteque declined to elaborate on a possible motive but said that Samuel was targeted.
“We don’t feel like this was a straight-out random shooting,” he said.

Carlota Angelica Vargas, a 70-year-old Latina, died Monday, Oct. 10, after she was pushed out a second-story window and beaten in the 7400 block of Hazeltine Avenue in Van Nuys, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 3 a.m., officers responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon at an apartment complex. When police arrived, they found Vargas on the ground in the driveway of an apartment complex, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department. Vargas had injuries to her face, police said.
The suspect, identified by police as Vargas’ son, Fernando Vargas, a 31-year-old Latino, was also suffering from a leg injury.

Samuel Cuevas, a 46-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Sunday, May 15, in the 8000 block of Langdon Avenue in Van Nuys, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly after 4 a.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon and found Cuevas wounded on the front porch of a home, according to a news release from the department.
Police determined that Cuevas was walking east on Chase Street and passed a group drinking in front of an apartment complex. The group “exchanged words” with Cuevas, then chased him, police said.
Eventually, the assailants caught up with Cuevas, and he was shot. The attackers, described as Latinos in their early 20s, ran west on Chase Street. A Latina was also presumed to be with the group, who was last seen getting into a black Lincoln Town Car.
Alexander Vega, a 44-year-old Latino, died Saturday, April 30, after he was shot in the 15500 block of Cohasset Street in Van Nuys, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 11:50 p.m., Vega was inside a garage when a person walked up and shot him, said Los Angeles Police Det. Ryan Verna.
Vega was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:10 a.m. the next day.
Detectives are looking for witnesses. Verna said the shooting does not appear to have been random.
Luis Rene Luna, a 24-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, April 13, in the 14300 block of Haynes Street in Van Nuys, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 1:30 p.m., Luna was confronted by a man outside a condominium complex, said Los Angeles police Det. Dave Peteque. Luna was stabbed, and the man ran away, he said.
Luna was pronounced dead at a hospital.
With the assistance of gang detectives and officers, police were able to narrow down a suspect, Peteque said. Josue David Morales, a 24-year-old Latino, was arrested on suspicion of murder April 15.
Rammy Sam Jaradat, a 26-year-old white man, was fatally shot by Los Angeles police Sunday, Feb. 14, in the 6900 block of Kester Avenue in Van Nuys, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 1 p.m., LAPD officers responded to reports of a “screaming woman who had been attacked by a man with a knife,” Chief Charlie Beck told police commissioners Feb. 16.
Officers arrived at an apartment and found one person with stab wounds and at least two other people with other injuries, Officer Matthew Ludwig said.
Other officers arrived on the scene and found Jaradat outside the apartment, armed with a knife, Ludwig said. It was unclear what prompted police to open fire.

About 11:30 p,.m., two officers were stopped at a red light when the back window of their patrol car shattered. Fearing they were under fire, police said, the officers got out of the cruiser and fired their own guns at a nearby man they believed was responsible, killing him.
