Washington was standing on the corner about 8:40 p.m., when he got into an argument with a person across the street, Los Angeles Police Det. Chris Barling said.
The person pulled out a gun and shot Washington, Barling said.
Washington ran north on Figueroa Street and collapsed, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:31 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
It’s unknown what prompted the argument, Barling said. The gunman fled west on west 58th Street on foot.
