Richard Che Risher, an 18-year-old black man, was fatally shot by Los Angeles police officers Monday, July 25, at 11124 Antwerp Avenue in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 11 p.m., officers patrolling the Nickerson Gardens housing development saw a group of people near East 111th and Antwerp streets, the LAPD said.
Officers had been paying particular attention to the area because of a deadly dispute between a gang affiliated with Nickerson Gardens and a rival group associated with the nearby Jordan Downs housing project, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck said.
The feud, which police believe began with a July 15 shooting in Hawthorne, led to a series of back-and-forth shootings that have left three people dead and eight wounded, Beck said.

Chad Daniel Sabal, a 38-year-old black man, was fatally stabbed Saturday, June 11, in the 2100 block of East 115th Street in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly after noon, Sabal got into an argument, which turned physical, with his brother, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri. The brother ended up stabbing Sabal, Kouri said.
Sabal was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:38 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Sabal's brother, Steven Tolliver, a 49-year-old black man, was taken into custody, and has been charged with one count of murder. A spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office said that Tolliver pleaded not guilty June 14.

Juan Carlos Quinones, a 28-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, April 13, in the 2100 block of East 105th Street in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 6:30 p.m., Quinones was walking in the street when a vehicle drove by and a person inside fired multiple rounds, said Los Angeles police Det. Dave Garrido.
The vehicle then continued traveling east on East 105th Street.
Quinones was struck and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:38 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Police are looking for additional witnesses.
