Jesus Alfredo Duran, a 31-year-old Latino, was shot and killed by a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy Saturday, June 11, in the 5200 block of Corona Avenue in Maywood, according to sheriff's investigators.
Duran, a veteran of the U.S. Army, had been living at home with his parents, who had moved out a few days earlier "because of the volatile situation with their son," said Lt. Steve Jauch.
His family came back to the house to check on him on June 11, Jauch said, but Duran allegedly refused to open his bedroom door.
ABC7 News quoted family members as saying Duran had barricaded the main door to the house, and his adult sister had to break a window to get inside. When the sister tried to talk to him through his bedroom door, the station reported, family members said Duran threatened her. ...
