Donte Lamont Jordan, a 39-year-old black man, was shot and killed by Long Beach police Sunday, Nov. 10, in the 500 block of West Anaheim Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Officers were called to a gas station about 6 p.m. for a report of a man firing a weapon, according to a news release from the Long Beach Police Department.
At the gas station, Jordan allegedly fired multiple rounds at the driver of a dark-colored vehicle. The driver fled, according to the release.
When officers arrived they saw Jordan walking along the sidewalk of West Anaheim Street near Chestnut Avenue. He matched the description that callers provided, the department said.
According to the release, when officers “made contact” with Jordan, an officer-involved shooting occurred.
