Aaron Harts, a 22-year-old black man, died Thursday, Nov. 19,  after he was shot in the 8800 block of South Central Avenue in Green Meadows, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 11:50 p.m. on Nov. 18, Harts and a 25-year-old Latino were walking on the sidewalk when a white four-door sedan driving west on East 88th Place stopped, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido. Three people got out of the sedan and asked Harts and the other man what gang they were with.

Harts and the 25-year-old said they were not with a gang.  One or more people opened fire, striking Harts in the back.

The 25-year-old was struck in the leg. Both were taken to a hospital.  Harts was pronounced dead at 12:22 a.m. on Nov. 19, according to coroner’s records. The 25-year-old was treated and is expected to survive.
