A story for every victim

Ahmad Washington, 55

Ahmad Washington, a 55-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, July 2, in the 600 block of West 77th Street in Vermont Knolls, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 9 p.m., Washington was arriving at a duplex to visit the mother of his children when he was shot by the woman’s boyfriend, said Los Angeles Police Det. Chris Barling.

It’s unclear what preceded the shooting, but Washington didn’t make it inside the woman’s home, police said.

Washington was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

The suspect fled in a red pickup truck and was later arrested, police said.

Dontee Green, a 30-year-old black man, was charged July 6 with one count of murder with allegations that he used a handgun and has prior felony convictions, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
