Alfredo Buenobaca, 29

Alfredo Buenobaca, a 29-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, Nov. 28, near East Elm Street and North Poinsettia Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Buenobaca was crossing North Poinsettia Avenue near East Elm Street when a dark-colored SUV drove up and a person in the right front passenger side got out and fired a gun, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Buenobaca was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:05 a.m., said Ed Winter, assistant chief of investigations for the coroner’s office.

The vehicle then fled south on North Poinsettia Avenue. Authorities did not release a description of the gunman.
