Alvin Antwine Dexter, 42

Alvin Dexter, a 42-year-old black man, was shot and killed Friday, June 4, in the 1100 block of West 105th Street in Westmont, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Dexter was visiting a relative about 7:45 p.m. when he was shot while walking to the front gate, said sheriff's homicide Det. Richard Tomlin, who is handling the investigation.

Authorities were called and Dexter was taken to Harbor UCLA Medical Center where he died at 8:17 p.m., according to coroner's records.

Witnesses to the shooting said they saw two males running from the scene, Tomlin said.

Investigators do not have any additional details about the incident.
