Amado Lozano Jr., a 28-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, May 31, in the 2600 block of South Alma Street in San Pedro, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Lozano was found dead in his apartment, officials said. Coroner's records show he had an apparent gunshot wound to the head, as well as a ripped black plastic bag loose around his neck.

After the grim discovery, a Los Angeles Police Department special-weapons team searched a nearby home looking for a suspect.

The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division arrested Crystal Rose Lozano, a 30-year-old white woman, on Wednesday in connection with the homicide. She is  being held at the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood on no bail.

According to authorities, Amado and Crystal Lozano had divorced several years ago.

A man also was in custody in connection with the slaying. Police records identify him as Wilson Lopez, a 21-year-old Latino.

[Updated, Sept. 11, 2013: Detectives are offering a $50,000 reward leading to the arrest of the people responsible for Lozano's death. Crystal Rose Lozano, who was arrested in connection with the slaying in 2011, is no longer in custody, but police have not ruled her out as a suspect.  Two males entered the Lozano home about 10:30 a.m. on May 31, 2011, under the pretense of being law enforcement officers, according to a news release from LAPD. Police describe the suspects as 25- to 30-year-old Latino men with black hair and brown eyes. They are between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 10 inches tall and weigh about 185 pounds.
