Amigo Vandon Burton, 56

Amigo Vandon Burton, a 56-year-old black man, died Friday, July 10, after he was assaulted in the 8200 block of South Broadway in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 5 p.m. on July 8, Burton got into a dispute with his nephew, who allegedly punched him in the face, LAPD Det. Eric Crosson said. Burton fell to the ground and hit his head.

The nephew had gotten into an argument with Burton’s girlfriend, and Burton was confronting his nephew.

Burton was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead two days later at 3 p.m., according to coroner’s records. His death was ruled a homicide resulting from blunt-force trauma.

Prosecutors declined to file charges against the nephew based on insufficient evidence, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
