Ana Acosta, 32

Ana Acosta, a 32-year-old Latina woman, was shot multiple times while sitting in her vehicle in the 500 block of South Russell Avenue in Monterey Park about 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4. 

According to the Sheriff's Department,  Acosta was talking to a man while her vehicle was parked in the middle of the street. Shots were fired and Acosta's vehicle traveled a short distance before crashing into a parked vehicle. Paramedics declared her dead at the scene.

The man was last seen driving southbound on South Russell Avenue in a dark sedan, authorities said.

Update: The Times reported on Feb. 6, 2008 that authorities were seeking Acosta's husband, Aaron Leonel Raigoza, 34, as a "person of interest" in her death. 

Aaron Raigoza, Acosta's husband, was arrested in connection with her deathRaigoza and Acosta were both Los Angeles Unified School District employees. At the time of her death he was a teacher at the City of Angels independent study school in Huntington Park.

Raigoza was arrested Feb. 29, 2008 at a motel in Yucca Valley and was still incarcerated without bail in a Los Angeles County jail as of January 2010, according to jail records.
