A story for every victim

Andres Iraheta, 8

Andres Iraheta, a 9-year-old Latino boy, was shot and killed by his father on Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, in the 4200 block of Normal Avenue in Silver Lake, authorities said.

Jorge Cruz Iraheta, 31, also shot and killed his 7-year-old daughter, Ashley, and wounded his wife, Marta, before killing himself, police said.

Authorities said Iraheta had violated a restraining order by seeing his wife that night and the couple argued.

Before the fatal shootings, Los Angeles Police Department officers from the Rampart Division had responded to a domestic disturbance call about 9 p.m. at the family's home near Virgil Avenue. By the time police arrived, Iraheta had fled the home and officers went to look for him.

An hour later, officers were called back to the home. At that point, they discovered Iraheta and his son and daughter dead and Marta Iraheta shot in the leg. She was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, authorities said.

A weapon was recovered at the scene, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Rampart homicide detectives at (213) 484-3635.
