Anita Fishman, 21, was found dead in an alley near the 9800 block of South Figueroa Street in Vermont Vista on Jan. 20, 1989.

Officers saw a wood panel door leaning diagonally against a detached garage and found her behind the door. The cause of death was listed as strangulation.

The New York native was residing in Pasadena at the time of her murder. She had battled drug addiction and homelessness.

Chester DeWayne Turner was sentenced to death in 2007 for the murder of Fishman and nine other women. Authorities believe he was tied to another seven killings.
