Anna Marie Perez, 24

Anna Marie Perez, a 24-year-old Latina, was fatally shot on Saturday, Dec. 1, in the 100 block of West 4th Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Perez was in a parking lot at 4th and Pacific Avenue in Long Beach’s downtown entertainment district around 2 a.m. when two groups of men and women began arguing, according to a news release from the Long Beach Police Department.

Investigators believe Perez wasn’t involved with either group, according to the release, but someone began shooting and Perez was struck in the torso. 

Perez was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:15 a.m., according to coroner’s records. 

Witnesses described the shooter as a black adult male who was last seen leaving the parking lot in an “unknown color sedan,” according to the release. 

Perez lived in Long Beach and attended Long Beach City College, according to her Facebook page. Her aunt has started an online fundraiser to help her family with burial expenses.
