Anne Ward, a 77-year-old white woman, was fatally shot Thursday, May 20, in the 7200 block of Cirrus Way in West Hills, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Police discovered the bodies of an elderly couple around 9 a.m. after responding to a 911 call from the residence, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The husband and wife, later identified by the coroner's office as Anne Ward, were found inside after an officer entered the home through an open rear door. The victims had single gunshot wounds to their heads. The spouses were pronounced dead at the scene by Fire Department paramedics, the LAPD said.

It's believed the incident was an apparent murder-suicide case, police said.
