Anthony Haywood, 46

Anthony Haywood, a 46-year-old black man, died Monday, June 18, after he was stabbed in the 8800 block of South Hoover Street in Vermont Vista, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

At 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, a group of people were gathered at Algin Sutton Recreation Center when an argument broke out between Haywood and another person, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri. 

The other man pulled out a knife and stabbed Haywood, Kouri said, then fled in a light-colored sedan.

Haywood, who was stabbed multiple times, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:36 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

The assailant remains at large.
