A story for every victim

Anthony Richard Gomez, 29

Anthony Richard Gomez, a 29-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Saturday, Oct. 22, in the 800 block of South Flower Street in downtown L.A., according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Police received a call of an assault with a deadly weapon shortly after 2 p.m., said Los Angeles Police Det. Sergio Ortiz. When officers arrived, they searched the apartment building and found Gomez with gunshot wounds on the second floor, Ortiz said.

Gomez was pronounced dead at 2:38 p.m. at the scene, according to coroner’s records.

Adnan Sinanovic, a 27-year-old white man, and Demarice Terrell, a 24-year-old black man, were arrested on suspicion of murder Oct. 27, according to online Sheriff’s Department records.

Ortiz said the shooting could have been the result of a dispute over narcotics, but he declined to provide more detail.

Sinanovic and Terrell were charged Oct. 31 with one count each of murder, second-degree robbery, first-degree residential burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Sinanovic and Terrell pleaded not guilty Nov. 14 and are due back in court Dec. 15, officials said. Police said two additional suspects are outstanding.

Anyone with information is asked to call Ortiz at (213) 996-1889. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
