Antonio Cornwell, 23

Antonio Cornwell, a 23-year-old black man, was shot and killed Friday, April 14, near South Sepulveda Boulevard and National Boulevard in Palms, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

About 8 p.m., officers from the LAPD's Pacific Division responded to a call of a shooting in the parking lot of a CVS, according to a news release from the department.

Officers found Cornwell in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

Cornwell was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:12 p.m., according to coroner's records.

Witnesses told police that the shooter, a man with an olive complexion, fled in a small, dark SUV.
