Armando Ortega, 26

Armando Ortega, a 26-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, Aug. 25, near Hooper Avenue and East 45th Street in Central-Alameda, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 10:45 p.m., Ortega was picking up his wife at a friend’s house, LAPD Det. Richard Arciniega said. Ortega pulled into the driveway of a home, and a dark-colored van drove up. A person got out and shot into the back window of Ortega’s SUV, striking Ortega. The van then fled east on East 45th Street. 

Ortega was pronounced dead at 10:55 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
