A story for every victim

Arturo Cordova, 57

Arturo Cordova, a 57-year-old Latino, died Thursday, June 21, in the 15300 block of Rinaldi Street in Mission Hills, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Cordova suffered a gunshot wound to the torso in 1995 that left him a quadriplegic and using a ventilator, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

In 2005, Cordova entered a skilled nursing facility as his health continued to decline.

Winter said Cordova was recently admitted to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he died.

Since he died from complications from his gunshot wound, Cordova's death was ruled a homicide.

The coroner's office does not know where the victim was originally shot. Winter had no other details about the case.

Anyone with information about the incident can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
