A story for every victim

Aubrey Lee Lipkins, 44

Aubrey Lipkins, a 44-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, Aug. 15, in the 2600 block of Longwood Avenue in West Adams, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Neighbors called 911 just before 11 p.m. to report a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Lipkins dead outside a residence, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Bruce Borihanh.

SWAT officers were called to the scene while authorities evacuated several buildings and cordoned off the block to search for suspects.

Nothing turned up after several hours of searching the area, so police let residents return to their homes early Tuesday.

Detectives continue to look for the assailants and a motive for the killing.

Anyone with information about the death of Aubrey Lipkins is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
