Brenda Aguilera, 21

Brenda Aguilera, a 21-year-old Latino woman, and Jonathan Vega-Plascencia, a 20-year-old Latino man, were shot while sitting in a parked car at the intersection of 48th and Wall streets in South Los Angeles about 11 p.m. Sunday, April 27.

According to Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Ana Aguirre, a vehicle pulled alongside the parked car and someone inside began shooting. Aguilera was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Vega was taken to a hospital, where he died, Aguirre said.

She said three women sitting on a porch nearby were also wounded by gunfire. They were taken to hospitals, where they were recovering. The motive for the shooting is unknown, authorities said.
