Brian Deshaun Humphries, 23

Brian Humphries, a 23-year-old black man, was fatally shot Friday, Sept. 10, in the 1000 block of Lewis Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Humphries was standing in front of a home visiting friends at about 8:30 p.m. when he was approached by two men and shot, according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.

Following the shooting, witnesses said the two assailants, who had not been identified, fled on foot north on Lewis Avenue.

Police were called and Humphries was taken by paramedics to a local hospital, where he died a short time later, authorities said.

A motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
