Calvin Eugene Gray, a 33-year-old black man, was fatally shot Tuesday, July 29, in the 1000 block of West 76th Street in Vermont Knolls, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 8:30 p.m., Los Angeles police officers responded to a call of a shooting in the area, according to a news release from the department. When officers arrived, they found a man, later identified as Gray, suffering from gunshot wounds inside his vehicle.

Gray was pronounced dead at 8:41 p.m. at the scene, according to coroner’s records.

Gray was a security officer with the County Services Bureau. He joined the department in October 2010, according to an online obituary.

Local television stations reported that Gray was dropping off a relative in the area at the time of the shooting.

Dang two years already and I'm still missing Calvin like its day one after this horrible incident.I wish I could get a do-over. If only I knew then what I know now I would have prayed more, loved harder, argued less, and spent every waking moment with him. I have so many wonderful memories of this man,secerts that only he and I share. Just to get a bear hug or hear him say," man you are so spoiled here don't ask for nothing else" & would still give me whatever I asked for later. He took care of me mind,body, and soul I thank God for putting this on my life he taught me how to love and be loved! When I met you in 2004 never knew our friendship would turn into what we had some 6 years later.My only regret is not saying yes in 2012 and saying we needed more time😔 not knowing that time was running out...friends who became lovers until we me again always and forever your MICABOO❤️😘

Always a peace maker, always caring for someone else. Wanted to make a difference, looking forward to becoming swarn. Even trying to lead those, who had gone in the WRONG direction...out of the darkness, back into the light. Most who called HIM their friend, we're not even worthy of his friendship... just took his mobile number out of my phone last month...at first I couldn't but I felt it was time to let him go. As far as those who murdered him "playing God" as someone said... God is NOT ruthless and slimy like that. They were playing the DEVIL and the devil's game... HE has been the liar and slimy murdering trash since the beginning and uses those down here to do his work for him...they are simply puppets!! The type who murder would not know God if He was looking at them eye to eye. God brings life...they murdered Jesus too...I am glad Calvin knew Him... they are now face to face!!
