A story for every victim

Calvin Milner, 62

Calvin Milner, a 62-year-old black man, was beaten to death Tuesday, Jan. 3, in the 100 block of West 113th Street in Broadway-Manchester, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Milner's brother, Girard Flynn, allegedly beat him at their home Tuesday morning, said Los Angeles Police Det. Sal LaBarbera.

The victim died of his injuries after Flynn, a 51-year-old black man, struck him with an unknown object, LaBarbera said.

Detectives arrested Flynn at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday.

LaBarbera said there was an apparent history of violence between the two men despite their living in the same home.

Flynn was being held in lieu of $1-million bail and charges were pending.

Anyone with additional information about the incident is asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department at (877) 527-3247. Tipsters who would like to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (800) 222-8477.
