Canoga Park man sentenced for 2006 stabbing death

A Canoga Park man was sentenced Nov. 6, 2007, to state prison for a June 2006 murder, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Lawrence Ray Davila, 22, was sentenced to 16 years to life for killing David Alexander Deamorelli, a student at UC Santa Barbara.

In October, a jury deliberated a little more than a day before convicting Davila of one count of second-degree murder.

Deamorelli, 26, was stabbed to death June 24, 2006, near the intersection of Kingsbury Street and Lindley Avenue in Granada Hills.

According to Deputy Dist. Atty. Lou Holtz Jr., Deamorelli was killed just after midnight when he started talking to Davila, who was leaning against Deamorelli’s car on Kingsbury Street. Davila who was waiting for a ride, stabbed Deamorelli multiple times before getting into his friend’s pickup truck and driving away.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics who were called to the scene pronounced Deamorelli dead at 12:55 a.m.

Davila was arrested about a month after the fatal stabbing.
