Carlo Alberto Mellado, a 30-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, Nov. 6, in the 800 block of West 167th Street in Harbor Gateway, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly after 11 p.m., Mellado was near the back of the apartment complex where he lived when a car drove by and a person inside shot at him, said Los Angeles police Det. Nathan Kouri.

Mellado was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:47 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The vehicle continued traveling west in the alley toward South Vermont Avenue. It’s unclear why Mellado was targeted, Kouri said, adding that the victim was not a gang member.
