Carlos Venegas, 21

Carlos Venegas, a 21-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, March 31, in the 1100 block of West 90th Street in Westmont, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Deputies from the Lennox station responded to a call of a gunshot victim about 6 p.m., according to a sheriff's news release. When they arrived, they found Venegas and another man suffering from gunshot wounds.

Venegas was pronounced dead at the scene, while the wounded man was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Witnesses described the assailants as Latinos driving a white sedan. They were last seen heading south on Vermont Avenue from 90th Street.

The shooting is believed to be gang-related, sheriff's officials said.
