Cedric Tavan Horne, 24

Cedric Tavan Horne, a 24-year-old black man, was fatally shot Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, in the 900 block of West 68th Street in Vermont-Slauson, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 6:30 p.m., Horne was doing landscaping work at a home when a black pickup truck drove by and a person inside opened fire, said Los Angeles Police Det. Chris Barling.

Barling said the gunman got out of the truck, fired his weapon, then got back inside. Horne was not a gang member, Barling said.

Horne was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:04 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
