Cesar Gutierrez, 24

Cesar Gutierrez, a 24-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, March 18, in the 800 block of Bay View Avenue in Wilmington, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Gutierrez was in the area visiting a friend about 2:20 p.m., and the two were standing on the sidewalk, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.

A person walked up and fired multiple rounds at the two men, then fled to a waiting vehicle, police said.

Gutierrez was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:04 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

The other man, 18-year-old Joseph Duarte, also was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said they are looking for the public’s help in a description of the vehicle.
