Christian Coronel-Fuentes, 26

Christian Coronel-Fuentes, a 26-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, July 5, in the 1000 block of East 84th Place in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Coronel-Fuentes was riding his bike east on East 84th Place shortly before 4:30 p.m., said Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido. An SUV going the same direction pulled up beside Coronel-Fuentes and two men jumped out, Garrido said.

The men chased Coronel-Fuentes on foot, and one opened fire, striking him. Coronel-Fuentes was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:42 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Police say they believe the incident is gang related but that Coronel-Fuentes was not a gang member.
