Christopher Corey Serrano, 26

Christopher Corey Serrano, a 26-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Sunday, Aug. 21, in the 100 block of South Gless Street in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 8:30 p.m., officers in the LAPD’s Hollenbeck Division received a call of a shooting and found Serrano in the street with gunshot wound, said LAPD Det. Jose Ramirez.

Ramirez said there was evidence of rival gang graffiti in the area, which may have led to a confrontation.

“Exactly what he was doing, we don’t know,” Ramirez said of Serrano.

Police are looking for witnesses. It’s unclear whether a shooter fled on foot or in a vehicle.
