Christopher Vargas, 17

Christopher Vargas, a 17-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, April 28, in the 5700 block of West Manchester Boulevard in Westchester, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 8:50 p.m. Vargas and another person were in a parking lot near a market when a man approached them, pulled out a gun and shot about seven rounds at the men, said LAPD Det. Scott Masterson.

Vargas was struck multiple times and fell to the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:03 p.m., according to the coroner’s office.

The other man ran into a nearby alley. Police are attempting to interview him, Masterson said.

Detectives are searching for the gunman, who is described as Latino, tall, thin and between the ages of 18 and 25.
