Claudia Moya-Sanchez, 37

Claudia Moya-Sanchez, a 37-year-old Latina, died Monday, May 29, after she was stabbed in the 1600 block of East Palmer Street in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Moya-Sanchez was at home around 9 a.m. when she got into an argument with her ex-boyfriend, Andres Garcia, 38, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Rodney Moore said. 

During the argument, Garcia, also known as Jose Gonzalez, stabbed Moya-Sanchez multiple times, Moore said.

Moya-Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:30 a.m., according to coroner’s records. 

Garcia drove away from the scene, Moore said, but was arrested in Ventura County later that day by California Highway Patrol officers and transported back to Los Angeles. 

According to court records, Garcia was charged with murder on May 31 and pleaded not guilty. He is being held in jail in lieu of $2 million bail.
