Cory Lee Mayers, 32

Cory Mayers, a 32-year-old black man, was shot Monday, July 1, in the 2000 block of South Burnside Avenue in Mid-City, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Mayers was standing in front of a friend’s house about 7:30 p.m. when a person approached and fired multiple shots, according to an LAPD news release.

Mayers was hit by the gunfire and collapsed in the driveway, according to the release. He was taken to a hospital, where he died at 8:29 p.m., coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter said.

Detectives are seeking witnesses.
