Cyjai Nicole Bell, 16

Cyjai Nicole Bell, a 16-year-old black girl, was shot and killed Saturday, Jan. 23, in the 8100 block of Avalon Boulevard in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 8:15 p.m., Bell, Shujaa Jasiri Silver, 19, and two others were standing outside of a liquor store when a male got out of a small or medium-size SUV and began to fire at the group with an assault rifle, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido.

All four people were struck and taken to a hospital. Bell was pronounced dead at 9:07 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

The gunman ran back to the waiting SUV and fled south on Avalon Boulevard.
