Damien Michael Blakely, 44

Damien Michael Blakely, a 44-year-old Asian and black man, was shot and killed Thursday, Sept. 7 in the 5300 block of Monterey Road in Montecito Heights, according to authorities and coroner’s records.

About 8:45 p.m., Blakely, who was visiting family in the area, was washing a pickup truck parked in front of a home. A black sedan drove up and stopped, said Los Angeles Police Det. Jose Ramirez.

Blakely and a person inside the sedan “exchanged words,” then someone in the sedan shot Blakely, Ramirez said.

Blakely was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:58 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Police believe there was more than one person in the sedan, which fled south on Monterey Road.
