Damond Harvey, 18

Damond Harvey, an 18-year-old black man, died Sunday, March 18, a day after he was shot in the 9900 block of Flora Vista Street in Bellflower, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Harvey was in the back seat of a vehicle March 17 about 10:45 p.m. when an unknown person walked up and began firing a gun.

Injured by the gunfire, Harvey was taken to a hospital in Long Beach, where he was pronounced brain-dead the next day at 3:36 p.m.

Winter said other victims were hit during the shooting, but they sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident is believed to be gang-related.
